Being a great parent involves spending quality time with your child, and one of the best ways to do this is by playing with them. Playtime is not only fun, but also crucial for a child's development.

Habit

The habit of playing with your child involves setting aside dedicated time to engage in play activities with your child, such as games, sports, or imaginative play.

Goals

Set yourself a goal to spend at least 15 minutes each day playing with each of your children, and focus on creating positive and engaging experiences that strengthen your bond.

Implementation

Below you can find 3 simple steps to reach your daily goal:

  1. Create a list of playful activities: Brainstorm with your child what activities it likes to do with you as a parent. Write it on the PDF Habit Tracker or keep the list in your notes. For example: playing board games, reading a bedtime story, playing sports,....
  2. Schedule non-negotiable playtime: Set aside some time into your daily routine, and make it a non-negotiable priority to play with your child. Even if you are tired or don't feel like playing, remind yourself of the great parent you aspire to be.
  3. Be present: Be fully engaged in the play, allowing yourself to let go and have fun with your child. Put away your phone or any other electronic devices.

Benefits

  • Strengthen the parent-child bond and build a deeper connection.
  • Promote your child's physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Encourage creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills in your child.
  • Improve communication and social skills for both you and your child.
  • Create positive memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.
